The Ukrainian Armed Forces successfully integrated the capabilities of Germany’s Vector reconnaissance drone and the Stark Virtus loitering munition during an operation in the Zaporizhzhia region. According to the official LinkedIn page of Quantum Systems, Virtus loitering munitions were deployed to strike enemy targets under the guidance of the Vector drone. The Vector detected the targets and relayed precise coordinates to ensure accurate and effective strikes.
This operation marked the combat debut of Virtus. According to Stark Defense, Virtus cruises at 120 km/h and can accelerate to 250 km/h during a dive. The drone is capable of engaging both stationary and moving targets, and its battery provides up to one hour of operational endurance.

Virtus is somewhat similar to Russia’s Shahed drone but with several key differences. Both systems utilize an X-wing design; however, unlike the Shahed, the German drone performs vertical takeoff without the need for a catapult. Developers emphasize that Virtus incorporates artificial intelligence, enabling it to engage targets more effectively and respond in real-time to changing environments.
