NATO Selects Skydio to Supply X10D Nano-Class Drone

The NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) has selected the American autonomous drone company Skydio and its European partner COBBS BELUX BV to provide and support small ISR drones for NATO member countries as part of a new agreement under the Unmanned Aerial Systems Support Partnership Framework.

This framework agreement will procure nano-class unmanned aerial systems (UAS) weighing less than 2.5 kilograms and provide full lifecycle support, enabling NATO member states and their partners to access high-performance drones that support modern defense, security, and tactical missions. Leveraging Skydio’s technology and COBBS’s regional expertise, NATO forces will be able to rapidly acquire cutting-edge aerial systems adaptable to complex field operations.

Skydio will deliver its flagship X10D drone, selected for its exceptional autonomy, sensor performance, and mission versatility. The company is collaborating with Belgian firm COBBS BELUX BV, which will be responsible for sales, distribution, training, and lifecycle service support of the Skydio platform in Europe. All activities will be closely coordinated under Skydio’s supervision to ensure rapid-response local delivery capabilities.
The Skydio X10D is a next-generation nano-class drone system designed for complex tactical environments. Key features include:
1. Advanced onboard AI enabling obstacle avoidance in both daylight and zero-light conditions.
2. Visual-based navigation and dynamic communication channel switching to maintain resilience in electronic warfare.
3. Equipped with the most powerful EO and IR camera sensors in its class for day and night ISR missions.
4. Fully compliant with NDAA and Blue UAS security data architectures.
5. Lightweight and portable, weighing under 2.5 kilograms, allowing rapid field deployment.
6. Modular, open architecture enabling flexible execution of reconnaissance, mapping, and surveillance tasks.
