Sweden’s Sbba (Saab) has unveiled its first dedicated counter-drone missile, the Nimbrix. This new system is designed to address the growing threat of small drones on the battlefield. Development of the Nimbrix missile is accelerating, featuring an active guidance system, airburst warhead, and compact size. At the same time, Saab engineers are focused on cost-effectiveness, enabling large-scale, efficient deployment.
Nimbrix has a range of up to 5 kilometers, and its “fire-and-forget” mode makes it highly convenient in dynamic combat scenarios. One of its key capabilities is engaging drone swarms, a tactic that has become increasingly common. Nimbrix represents Saab’s solution to the escalating drone threats over the past few years. Its cost-effectiveness is crucial, given the rapid proliferation of drone systems on the battlefield.
The missile can operate as a standalone ground system or be integrated into existing air defense systems. Nimbrix offers flexible deployment options, suitable for mobile platforms as well as fixed defensive positions.
Initial deliveries are planned for 2026, with the product making its debut at the London DSEI exhibition in September 2025. Saab anticipates that its affordable price and easy integration features will make Nimbrix an ideal solution for many forces seeking reliable counter-drone capabilities.
