Sudan Unveils Safaroog Suicide Drone with 600 km Range

The Sudanese Military Industry Corporation (MIC) has unveiled a new suicide drone (loitering munition) named Safaroog. At the IDEF exhibition, the developer announced that the drone is already in service with Sudan and has attracted interest from potential buyers in the Middle East. The Safaroog is a long-range attack drone, measuring 2.88 meters in length, 0.91 meters in height, with a wingspan of 3.3 meters.

The platform is powered by a 342cc gasoline engine driving a two-blade pusher propeller. Thanks to this setup, it can reach a cruising speed of 160 km/h and a maximum speed of 200 km/h.

Depending on its configuration, the drone’s range is between 300 and 600 kilometers, with an endurance of 2.5 to 4.5 hours. It has a cruising altitude of 3,048 meters and a maximum ceiling of 4,572 meters. The maximum takeoff weight is 120 kilograms. In this configuration, it can carry up to 16 kilograms of payload with 40 liters of fuel, or 40 kilograms of payload with a 20-liter fuel tank.

The Safaroog can be launched in several ways: via a catapult (for lighter loads) or a pneumatic launcher.

The drone is equipped with a modern SNAP-5 autopilot powered by artificial intelligence, as well as a GNSS/INS navigation system and anti-jamming algorithms. It has a control range of up to 600 kilometers, enabling loitering munitions to be deployed deep behind enemy lines.
