Ukraine Develops Reusable Fixed-Wing Shotgun Intercept Drone

Ukrainian company Besomar has developed a reusable intercept drone equipped with a shotgun and an automatic firing system. The company’s representatives introduced their product to the media during Iron Demo 2025. According to the developers, in the current configuration, the system installed on the fixed-wing intercept drone allows for two shots, but if necessary, this number can be increased to four.

The company representatives said, “The intercept drone can fire twice, and we can increase the number of shots on the aircraft to four. Typically, mass-produced drones are single-use, but there has been a request to develop a product that can shoot in the air and still be reused.”

The shotgun-equipped intercept drone can destroy enemy drones at speeds of up to 200 km/h, including Gerbera drones flying at speeds of 100-130 km/h and various types of reconnaissance drones. Because the interceptor is equipped with a digital communication system with frequency response capabilities, it can approach the target and hit it without being noticed by the evasion systems installed on Russian drones.

One of the features of the system is that it can not only manually shoot at targets but also automatically fire at them. With a sensor on the drone’s nose, the system, with the pilot’s permission, initializes the shooting when the target enters the kill zone. This significantly improves the efficiency of hitting maneuvering targets because the pilot may not have enough reaction time to fire manually. The weapon uses a recoil-free system based on 12-gauge ammunition, ensuring the stability of the drone during firing.
